DOLLY KENNEDY RECEIVES AWARD

On July 10^th, the Arizona Governor’s Conference on Tourism presented Dolly Kennedy with the 2008 Tourism Hall of Fame Award!  The Governor’s Annual Conference on Tourism was held at the Westin in Tucson and approximately 800 people were in attendance.  Dolly represents the Dolly Steamboat on Canyon Lake and has been a member of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce since 1990.

She is seen at many of the chamber functions and events and is recognized by her feathered hats and old fashioned outfits indicative of days gone by.  It is not by chance that the Dolly Steamboat also represents a by-gone era reflecting the charm and graciousness of long ago and so prominently displayed by the Dolly Crew.

This year marks the Dolly Steamboat’s 25^th Anniversary.  Twenty-five years ago this year the public was treated to the unveiling of the Dolly on Canyon Lake, making it possible for young and old to view the breath-taking scenery of the canyon only visible by boat.

Although Dolly Kennedy and her husband were the founders of the boat, the Grimh family has continued the tradition of serving the public for 21 wondrous years.  The opportunity to view the spectacular scenery brings joy and happiness to thousands of people who may never have had the opportunity of this awesome experience.
